Fuego Fest Makes History in Los Angeles With First-Ever Celebration of Latin Youth in Alternative Music

LOS ANGELES, CA (September 29, 2025) – Fuego Fest made history this past weekend as over 730 fans packed The Echo and Echoplex for the first-ever festival celebrating Latin youth in the alternative music space. DIY at its core, the festival was built from artists, for artists, a grassroots effort by young Latin creatives who grew up in the scene and came together to carve out a space of their own.

With over 20 bands, DJs, artists, and vendors, including international acts from Mexico, the night highlighted the energy and diversity of a community rarely given the spotlight. Held during Hispanic Heritage Month, Fuego Fest created a cultural milestone for Los Angeles’ underground and emerging music scenes.

The festival’s impact was formally recognized by the City of Los Angeles. Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martínez (13th District, Los Angeles) presented Fuego Fest with a Certificate of Recognition, honoring the festival’s commitment to supporting Latin artists, empowering youth, and providing a platform for alternative music voices during Hispanic Heritage Month. The certificate was presented at the event by Mark Anthony Fuentes, representing the council member's office.

"This wasn’t put together by a corporation — it was created by a collective of Latin youth who grew up in this scene," said Jonathan “Johnny” Cisneros, founding member of Fuego Fest and one of its featured performers. "It’s from artists, for artists, and seeing hundreds of rockeros come together, alongside recognition from the City, proves the power of community when we claim our space."

Fuego Fest also partnered with Operation Street Kidz, a nonprofit that empowers at-risk youth through arts, mentorship, and creative outlets. Together, they are providing young people in Los Angeles with opportunities to express themselves and find belonging through music, art, and culture.
The debut of Fuego Fest marks a new chapter for Los Angeles, establishing a vibrant grassroots celebration of identity, artistry, and resilience, with plans to expand in the years ahead.
